Prince William Jokes About Celebrating Kate Middleton's Birthday

Prince William is back to work today with his first public engagement of the year, after celebrating the holidays with his family. He visited London’s Air Ambulance Charity to learn about the work and challenges of first responders. The Duke of Cambridge, a former air ambulance pilot himself, was recently named a patron of the charity’s 30th anniversary campaign.

William’s return to royal duty also coincides with an important occasion: his wife Kate Middleton’s birthday. The Duchess of Cambridge turns 37 today, and she’s expected to have a relaxed, celebration at home with the kids, Prince George, 5, Princess Charlotte, 3, and Prince Louis, 8 months.

The Duke of Cambridge made sure fans knew that, despite his work schedule, he did not forget the duchess’ birthday. When he was presented with a card for his wife during his visit today, he replied, “Well done for remembering,” then added, “I did remember this morning, so that was okay!” according to People. The group around him giggled in response.

The father of three also had his kids in mind during his royal visit today. When he received a toy helicopter for his little ones, he thought of his oldest son, who’s a fan of the aircraft. “I couldn’t go back without a toy helicopter. George would never forgive me!” he joked, People reports.

He also thought of baby Louis, adding, “Louis will be chewing that before long.”
