Tonys afterparty forced to tone it down after last year’s debauchery

The guest list for an exclusive Tonys afterparty at the swanky Carlyle Hotel was vastly reduced this year because last year’s bash was too debauched.

Every year, A-listers congregate in upstairs suites after the Broadway awards ceremony, as others party at Café Carlyle and Bemelmans Bar below — but the hotel told organizers to keep the affair much smaller this time around.

“Last year, a beloved male producer took a header in the Royal Suite and smashed into the wall, shattering some very valuable Venetian glass,” DKC/O&M head Rick Miramontez tells us. “The hotel was ultimately understanding about the incident, but we did reluctantly agree to a reduced capacity in the suites. Luckily, the Café Carlyle has almost no breakable antiques, so we are still able to pack that venue to the gills!”

After Sunday’s ceremony, the party for Miramontez’s firm — which featured a disco, dubbed the Orpheus Room, in reference to hit Tony winner “Hadestown” — brought in guests including Ryan Murphy, Adam Driver, Scott Rudin, Baz Luhrmann, Laurie Metcalf, Elaine May and Darren Criss, who got on the piano to belt out Elton John’s “Tiny Dancer.”
