Zoe Ball: Radio 2 host leaves Strictly pros shocked with Pasha Kovalev BOMBSHELL
Zoe Ball, 48, discussed the upcoming Strictly Come Dancing professional’s tour with Giovanni Pernice, 28, Oti Mabuse, 28, and Dianne Buswell, 29. Oti shared details of the tour and highlighted the fact it will be the final time the pros get to dance with Pasha Kovalev, 39. The latter announced he has left the show following eight series earlier this year. Oti said: “It will be the last time we get to dance with Pasha.”
Maybe he’s going to be the new judge
Zoe replied: “That makes my heart hurt a little bit. I love Pash pot, he’s such a legend.”
She added: “Maybe he’s going to be the new judge,” prompting the dancers to gasp at her statement.
Zoe went on to say: “And we just don’t know. The thing is, everybody always knows so much more gossip than me and we just can’t talk about half of it which is so boring!”
During their chat, Zoe also told the pros she hopes they lift Pasha up at the end of the tour after his final dance.
Laughing, Dianne replied: “You’re giving away our ending.”
Back in February, Pasha, who is in a relationship with Countdown’s Rachel Riley, 33, took to Twitter to announce his departure from the show.
In view of his 147,000 Twitter followers, he wrote: “After scoring 93 perfect tens, reaching 4 finals and lifting 1 Glitterball, it’s time for me to find a new challenge and so I’ve decided to make last year – my finale season Strictly.
“I’ve had 8 fantastic years, full of wonderful memories, thanks to the incredible partners, professionals and myriad of behind the scenes teams who all work to make Strictly the amazing production that it is.
“The biggest thanks go to all the members of the public who’ve supported me so much over these years – I look forward to seeing you on the Strictly Pro-Tour this spring, and for many future adventures to come!”
Last week, judge Darcey Bussell, 49, also revealed she will no longer be a panelist on the show.
The professional ballerina, who was a judge on the show for seven years, said she has left to focus on other work commitments.
She told her fans: “I have enjoyed every minute of my time and will miss everyone from my fellow judges, the presenters, the dancers, the musicians, the entire backstage team, and especially the viewers of the show, who have been so supportive.”
She added: “I am not leaving because of any upset or disagreement at all.”
“I am just stepping away to give more focus to my many other commitments in dance, after seven truly wonderful years that I can’t imagine having gone any better.”
Following the news of her departure, many names have been thrown into the mix as potentials to replace her, including Oti’s.
Denying she will be taking over from the judge, she told Zoe: “I love dancing, I love coming to the rehearsals, I love being part of the group, I think it’s a really special group to be a part of.
“There are no dancers like Strictly dancers and how close we are and I think I would absolutely miss that and that part of it. So I’ll be dancing, honey, I’ll be dancing.”
The Zoe Ball Breakfast show airs weekdays on Radio 2 from 6.30am.
