Strictly Come Dancing: This sign shows ‘conflict’ between Motsi Mabuse and Shirley Ballas
Strictly Come Dancing launched last night and the contestants were paired up with their dance partners. Claudia Winkleman, 47, and Tess Daly, 50, hosted the show which saw the contestant find out who they would be dancing with. This year, professional dancer and judge Motsi Mabuse, has replaced Darcey Bussell on the judging panel. The show has just kicked off but this sign revealed their could be “conflict” between her and the other judges.
The two women looked friendly enough but at the end of their jog they butted foreheads together.
Motsi will join the panel along with Bruno Tonioli, 63, Shirley Ballas, 58, and Craig Revel Horwood, 54.
However, there could be some tension between the judges, according to body language expert, Judi James.
She told Express.co.uk: “With a brand new judge being unveiled on the panel tonight, plus the previous soap-opera plots that is now the lives of some of the pro dancers, the spotlight does seem to have swung further away from the celebrities this series, making the pros and the judges the stars of this launch-night show.”
The expert explained Motsi seemed to get on well with the judges but there was a bit of conflict between them.
“Judge Motsi made an unforgettable entrance, full of character, shimmying her way down the stairs to apparently ignore Bruno’s waiting, outstretched hand at the bottom and turning instead to Shirley Ballas to perform a little routine,” Judi said.
“The two women looked friendly enough but at the end of their jog they butted foreheads together.
“This could be a sign of genuine trust and fondness but it could also have been a bit like stags rutting heads, i.e. a hint of future conflict.
The expert explained Motsi and Craig appeared to have the most complex relationship on the show.
Judi told Express.co.uk: “It was Craig whose reactions to Motsi were the hardest to read, though.
“While she spoke he maintained a poker face, looking ahead while Shirley turned in her seat to watch smiling, and it was only towards the end of the show that we saw some touch and smiles between the pair.
“They could have been primed up to make a feisty double act down the end of the panel.”
The launch show was hosted by Strictly Come Dancing presenter Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman.
Tess opted for a glamorous look as she stepped out in a velvet floor length gown for the launch.
The figure hugging outfit had long sleeves and a slit up the left side which showed off her toned legs.
Her designer dress, £1445, had shoulder pads and was a dark blue colour and she paired it with sparkly shoes.
Claudia joined her in a bold red sparkly two piece suit and candy pink shoes.
The suit featured an oversized blazer which she wore buttoned up and it was paired with loose red trousers.
Sequins covered the entire design and she kept her hair simple to let the outfit steal the show.
