Good Morning Britain presenter Ben Shephard, 46, has taken to Instagram to give his 475,000 followers an insight into his physiotherapy sessions as he works towards recovery following leg surgery. It comes after the ITV host suffered a horror injury while playing football a few months ago, which left him needing surgery on his leg.

During a match with his pals, the broadcaster tore his meniscus, ruptured his ACL and fractured his leg.

Ben shared a video of his latest physio session this afternoon and revealed his “quivering thigh” issue is “slowly progressing” after his operation.

The star could be seen slowly raising his injured leg up and down, while his physiotherapist shared some encouraging words with him.

Praising Ben on his progress, the physio pointed towards Ben’s leg muscles and said: “Working hard, excellent!”

Ben captioned the clip: “@symmetryperformance Physio update – straight leg raises and quivering thigh slowly progressing! #aclrehab.”

The Tipping Point host seemed equally happy with his recovery, as he shared another video of himself performing his exercises.

Ben’s scars could be seen in the clip, which he revealed were “looking a bit less angry” than they did before.

He wrote alongside the post: “This is a huge improvement in 5 weeks – scars looking a bit less angry too!

“@symmetryperformance #aclrehab.”

Ben previously admitted his rehab “really hurts”, as he opened up to fans amid his journey towards recovery back in July.

In a video he shared at the time, Ben’s knee was being stimulated by electric pads as he tried to extend it straight.

Ben admitted while wincing due to his pain: “Back on the Compex, back with Mo.

“Trying to get that stimulation in my quad, it really, really hurts.”

Alongside the clip, he penned: “Trying to stimulate the quad – and force the knee to extend straight – Mo likes to hurt me.

“That final degree means I got the leg straight.

“Can’t believe the effort just to straighten the leg.”

When Ben returned to Good Morning Britain for the first time since his surgery, he updated ITV viewers on his condition.

Speaking about his recovery, he admitted how his wife was “struggling” as he complained about his injury to her.

He made the admission after thanking viewers for their lovely messages.

Ben said: “If it’s at all possible, could you send some of that love to my wife?

“Because she’s the one who’s really struggling.”
