Brenda Blethyn says she has to ‘soften’ her voice for Vera
Brenda Blethyn has completed work on the first episodes of the new series of her hugely popular television series Vera. The 74-year-old actress shared a backstage update with fans via Twitter when filming wrapped.
Brenda, who plays DCI Vera Stanhope in the crime series, could be seen giving a thumbs up in a social media snap.
The picture, along with one other, was originally posted by the show’s director Christiana Ebohon-Green.
“And that’s a #wrap on #Vera,” she wrote alongside the photos.
“Thanks to the lovely cast and crew @BrendaBlethyn @kennydoughty. What a pleasure,” she added, thanking the stars of the show.

The photo also captured actor Kenny Doughty, who stars as DS Aiden Healy in the drama.
A second image showed a clapperboard on a camera screen.
“A pleasure to work with you Christiana,” Brenda wrote, when she re-shared the tweet with her 46,700 followers.
Many took to the comments section of the post to share their excitement at the prospect of new episodes to watch.
“Can’t wait for new Vera. I still binge watch previous series,” one fan wrote.
“Cant wait to see this,” another added.
“When will it air? Can’t wait!” a third person asked.
However, some eagle-eyed viewers spotted someone else in the background of the photo.

The English actor has previously starred in a number of television shows including Waterloo Road and The Halcyon.
He has appeared in detective dramas Death In Paradise and Midsomer Murders.
Back in August, it was confirmed that Vera would return for an 11th season.

Ahead of filming Brenda said: “I’m really looking forward to working on the next series of Vera.
“The safety of all personnel is always at the forefront of production, and with all the extra COVID precautions in place we will relish creating and delivering six cracking new episodes.”
