Chris also chats on the show about his move to Virgin Radio, having announced a move from the BBC earlier this year.

Teasing new information about the upcoming breakfast show, which sees him return to the station after almost 20 years, he says: ‘The BBC is a marvellous and wonderful place and I thank them for everything. I have no complaints whatsoever.

‘I had an amazing time there – to take over Terry’s [Wogan] show was such an honour and such a treat. I survived it and lived to tell the tale.

‘I can see bright, bright sunshine, I can see blue, blue skies and I can’t wait to get to Virgin Radio.’

Speaking of advice from the late Terry Wogan, he said: ‘He said there’s never a right time to go but there can be a wrong time to go. Don’t wait until you only have the option of the wrong time.’

Dancing his way into 2019: Chris also revealed this week that he will likely be appearing on Strictly Come Dancing in 2019

Chris also revealed this week that he will likely be appearing on Strictly Come Dancing in 2019.

While the latest series has barely wrapped, Chris said on Wednesday’s edition of BBC’s The One Show: ‘I have said yes. Probably only because my wife would like to go every week.

‘You get a pair of tickets don’t you? My wife can go and have a great time and I will be terrified backstage.’

Chris and Natasha – who have been married since 2007 – welcomed twins Walt and Boo on September 20.

In his announcement following the birth, the comedian revealed he ‘hadn’t slept’ because the couple hit the town hours after the labour, to celebrate the twins’ arrival with the whole family including their sons Noah, nine, and Eli, six.

Brimming with happiness, Chris gushed about the tots before revealing they had ‘wet the babies’ heads’ the night before, leading to him falling asleep on the sofa and giving a shout out to Natasha.

Speaking on the show, the DJ said: ‘Good morning from myself and the team and from Team Evans back at home. Everyone’s up already… We’ve been up all night. We did go out to celebrate last night and we took the newborns with us…

‘They’re not the unborns anymore, they’re the newborns and they came out with us because it’s so cool when your new babies are less than a day old because once they’re a day old, two days, a week, six months…

‘That all seems to happen very quickly but the first 24 hours you can go round and say “they’re not a day old yet, they’re still not a full day old”.’

The couple already have two sons, Noah, nine, and Eli, six, and the DJ has a daughter Jade, 32, with his former fiancée Alison Ward.

Prior to welcoming their recent additions, the DJ revealed he and Natasha underwent IVF as they wanted to add to their family unit for ‘one last hurrah’.

He announced his wife’s pregnancy on his Radio 2 Breakfast Show in April, after revealing that she was undergoing fertility treatment in a bid to have a ‘fourth ankle-biter’.

Family man: The radio star also shares sons Noah, nine, and Eli, six, with his wife of 11 years

Chris said: ‘Mrs Evans is… she is now, yeah. Twins. Double trouble. Twin turbo. We’ve known for a while, obviously. She’s definitely the mother, there’s no doubt about that.

‘When you begin to be involved in the world of twins, suddenly twins are everywhere, twins are not as rare as you think.’

In October, it was announced that Zoe Ball would be taking over from Chris as host of the Radio 2 Breakfast Show when he leaves for Virgin Radio in the new year.

The presenter was revealed as the first female host of the show in its 51-year history after bosses opted for her over Sara Cox.

Zoe’s £1million salary was agreed after several weeks of complex regulations, with bosses hoping to make savings on Chris’ £1.69 million pay packet.

James Martin’s Saturday Morning at Christmas airs Saturday at 9.25AM on ITV.
