Rita Moreno, 89, is well-known as the Oscar-winning star of West Side Story. However, the actress has also candidly opened up about her dating life in a new interview, including when she went on a date with Elvis Presley.

Rita was in an on-and-off relationship with actor Marlon Brando in the late 1950s and early 1960s.

The couple were known for their tempestuous relationship, which began on the set of the 1952 film Désirée.

However, Rita has admitted their relationship was plagued by his infidelity and once, after they broke up, she went on a date with Elvis.

In a new interview with the Telegraph today, she said she tried to make him jealous.

Although, she admitted Elvis was “sexually disappointing” to the publication.

She said: “More like a baby brother who couldn’t make interesting conversation.”

This was in contrast to what she called a “very tempestuous, very sexual” relationship with Marlon.

Rita added: “He wasn’t giving – or, for that matter, loving. He never ‘made love’ to me.

“He didn’t know how. It was a very tempestuous, very sexual relationship, but by no means was it loving.

“It only became loving after it was over and he called me all the time and we shared all these secrets with each other.”

In another interview earlier this week, Rita revealed how she’d been inspired to go on a date with Elvis after finding evidence of Marlon’s infidelity.

She said on The View on Wednesday: “I found lingerie in his house and, of course, I was heartbroken, and I went home in tears – and I was angry too, just furious.

“The next day, the phone rings, and I say ‘Hello,’ and I hear a voice say, ‘Miss Moreno?’

“‘I said, ‘Uh, yeah?’ ‘This is Colonel Parker. My client is Elvis Presley, and Elvis spotted you at the 20th Century Fox commissary, and he liked what he saw.’”

Rita also explained how she felt Marlon’s reaction to the date was “wonderful”.

She added: “When he found out … he started to throw chairs: He was so angry.

“It was wonderful. And I just sat there as he threw chairs and yelled and carried on.”

Rita will be appearing in a new role created for her in the upcoming adaptation of West Side Story soon.

Directed by Steven Spielberg, she’ll be playing Valentina in the highly-anticipated film.
