David Beckham gushes over Victoria in public after ‘rocky’ marriage rumours
David Beckham has laughed off recent marriage rumours with a public declaration of praise for his wife Victoria Beckham.
The ex-England footballer co-hosted a dinner party last night with GQ editor Dylan Jones to celebrate the closing of London’s Men’s Fashion Week, in his new role as ambassadorial president of the British Fashion Council (BFC).
He and Victoria arrived hand-in-hand to the Brasserie of Light restaurant in Selfridges, with Goldenballs clad in a smart double-breasted grey suit and tie.
Looking glum and unsmiling, Victoria trailed behind her husband with her eyes cast down, wearing a navy power suit and heels.
But, once inside, Posh Spice was the life and soul of the party as she and David rubbed shoulders with the fashion elite.
Victoria filmed her husband giving a gushing speech about her role in the fashion industry – despite her Victoria Beckham brand losing a whopping £30million in the last five years .
David had to step in with a £8.5million cash injection in 2016, which – according to the last set of financial papers filed – her company is yet to repay.
But there was no word of her business’s financial woes as David welcomed his guests to the dinner.
Speaking to the GQ editor, he said: "Dylan, thank you very much, thank you for helping us host such a great evening with such a great end to an amazing men’s fashion industry.
"For myself I think this is the first time I’ve addressed a London crowd with my BFC hat on. I’m very proud of that and I want to thank yourself and everybody with the BFC for bringing me into this role."
To whoops and cheers, he then added: "Obviously my wife’s part of this industry so I’m very proud and very privileged to be flying the flag for our [industry]."
Victoria could be heard laughing as she filmed David for her Instagram .
The pair later posed with their good friends Gordon and Tana Ramsay, who just this week revealed they are expecting their fifth child .
Tana’s tiny baby bump could just about be seen as TV chef Gordon stood protectively by her side.
