Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford’s How The Other Half Lives is AXED by Channel 5 after Covid pandemic made travelling ‘impossible’
Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford’s luxurious travel show How The Other Half Lives has been shelved by Channel 5.
The broadcaster, 63, has revealed that there are no plans to bring back the show after the Covid pandemic made international travel ‘impossible.’
How The Other Half Lives saw Eamonn and Ruth, 63, explore some of the most expensive methods of travel, and saw them indulge the world’s most expensive cocktail use a £100,000 hand-engraved shotgun to shoot pigeons, and even fly in a private jet.
Speaking to The Sun, Eamonn explained: ‘Sadly, the series fell victim to the pandemic – it was just impossible to get across the world to meet very rich people – and there are no plans to revive the series now.
‘But I do feel privileged to have been a part of it and to have met people in parts of the world that are no longer accessible.

‘We got to spend time with some extraordinary people, including a billionaire and his wife in Ukraine and some of the richest people in Moscow.’
Over the course of the series, Eamonn and Ruth travelled to an array of destinations, including Dubai, Monte Carlo, New York, Las Vegas and Lake Como.
A Christmas Special saw the pair tasked with spending £1 million on Christmas Eve through some of the big-money antics they’d seen on the show.
When Ruth and Eamonn first launched the show back in 2016, she said: ‘We always thought we were doing alright then you see this wealth beyond your wildest dreams.
‘I set out to do this show thinking I wouldn’t like the people very much, thinking they’re going to be arrogant, and they really weren’t. A lot of them are self-made people.’
Eamonn added: ‘The fascination is how they made their money, how they spend it, and why when they get the money they don’t just stop working.’
It comes after Eamonn berated his wife Ruth for disrupting his naps.
The presenter expressed his disdain at his partner’s habit of interrupting his precious snoozing time as he chatted to co-star Isabel Webster during their GB News show.

The duo had been discussing a new sleep study which claims that napping for 40 minutes every day can help with brain growth.
And while the hosts discussed the topic, Eamonn couldn’t help but bemoan the Loose Women’s star’s disruptions, fuming: ‘Why does it sap her enjoyment of life that I am sleeping?!’
Isabel, 40, firstly shared her own napping experience, telling Eamonn: ‘At least if I set an alarm for an hour, which is what I tend to do on the days when I am working then I know I haven’t overslept.
‘I always feel like death after a nap, I feel worse for it but it gets me through the evening.’
To which her co-star replied: ‘Yeah I know what you mean. My wife is very good, my wife comes to me and says, “Are you sleeping? Are you sleeping?”
And you wake up out of your skin and my answer is usually… I can’t even tell you my answer because we’re on the air.
‘But I just think why does it sap her enjoyment of life that I am sleeping “again” as she always adds?
Not impressed: It comes after Eamonn berated his wife Ruth for disrupting his naps
‘”Are you sleeping again?” Well, I’m not sleeping you’ve shouted in my ear am I?’ he quipped.
With a laughing Isabel then responding: ‘Yeah that is cruel to wake someone up from a lovely nap.’
However, Eamonn wasn’t done there as he later continued to moan about Ruth’s habit.
He ranted ‘We are also going to be talking to a sleep scientist who explains why a quick 40 winks could be very good for you. If you take 40 winks often, regularly your brain doesn’t shrink. “Are you sleeping?”
