EastEnders’ Ray Kelly looks spookily like Steve Owen ‘back from the dead’

EastEnders fans have a shocking new theory that Ray Kelly could really be Mel’s dead husband Steve Owen back from the dead.

Mel is preparing to marry her love rat fiance over New Year, but a wild new claim suggests he could be hiding a secret even bigger than first thought.

The rumour was started by a soap fan on Twitter who claimed Steve could have survived the car crash which seemingly claimed his life 16 years ago.

He pointed out that Steve would have undergone extensive cosmetic surgery after the fiery accident, and could have returned with a new identity.

They tweeted : "Who watches EastEnders? I think Ray (Mel’s husband) is actually Steve Owen…

"He didn’t die in the fire from that car explosion and actually got reconstructive facial surgery and is back for revenge."

The soap fan also shared pictures of Steve and Ray side-by-side to point out the striking similarities.

He added: "Look at the resemblance!! Also look at Ray’s nose as well, that’s 100% meant to be a rhinoplasty…

"And also the fact Ray has a mysterious scar on his leg and how much he dotes over Mel’s son, sorry but I’m convinced!!

It might be more difficult to explain how Steve could have adopt a thick Irish accent, but there appear to be more clues backing up the theory.

In a trailer for the New Year episode, Mel’s son Hunter, whose dad was Steve Owen, is heard shouting: "No, no, Dad, please."

Tamzin Outhwaite, who plays, Mel has also hinted that Steve could have got out of the car crash alive.

She told The Sun : "I do think he could have got out in that three seconds and rolled underneath the car."
