Holly Willoughby’s lifelong friend appears on This Morning to discuss son’s cancer battle

Holly Willoughby supported her close friend on This Morning as she discussed her son’s cancer battle and the charity she set up in response.

Holly, who recently dropped the F-bomb live on air, invited her friend Hannah Peckham onto the show on Monday after her four year old son, Bodhi, was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia.

Hannah, who is the stepsister of Zoe Ball, asked Holly and her co-host Phillip Schofield to take part in the viral charity campaign that sees participants wear a pair of pants on her head.

Holly, 41, and Phillip, 60, were happy to take part in the #pantstoleaukaemia movement, which resulted in several cheeky pictures of the presenters will giant smiles on their faces.

“For me, as a mum, having to give him chemo and thinking ‘Gosh, I have no control over this’,” Hannah said on the show. “To feel like I can help…”

The stroke of genius came when her toddler spent his birthday in the hospital and instead of lying in bed, he was running around naked with his pants on his head.

“Although he's been through this…he's just…a little ray of sunshine,” Hannah added.

On the show, Hannah revealed that she became concerned after Bodhi always appeared to be sick and struggled to catch his breath.

Holly recalled: “I remember, we were talking at that time and you said, ‘It's just one thing after another,’ he keeps getting one virus and then another one.”

Explaining what it was like when Bodhi received his devastating diagnosis, Hannah said: “I literally just wanted to leave my body.

“It's like I'm looking down on myself and I can see myself in the room with the two doctors there and I just wanted to escape but I knew that I just had to for Bodhi. That was the only thing, otherwise I would have been out of there.”

Rapper and YouTuber KSI appeared on the show later, and while in the studio to discuss his new song, he touchingly sat with a pair of pants on his head in support of the campaign.

Holly, who was recently slammed by Kim Woodburn on a podcast, took to Instagram following the segment.

She wrote: “@h.j.peckham and Bodhi… so proud of you and your inspiring strength… #pantstoleukaemia … use the hashtag and wear your pants on your head and if you can donate on the just giving page (in my story) to just some of the incredible charities working with children with cancer… thank you.”

Hannah’s sister Zoe wrote: “So much love for my gorgeous step sis talking about her beautiful brave son Bodhi and his leukemia diagnosis and treatment.”

The segment also resonated with fans online, as many people took to social media to share their support.

“Joining in with pants to leukemia. Brodhi is a superhero and wish him and his mum the very best in their journey,” wrote one person alongside a picture of herself with her pants on her head.

“Brilliant, so close to my heart, great to see it being out there and supported by so many #pantstoleukaemia,” another wrote, while a third added, “Best wishes to Bodhi. A great way to raise awareness for Leukaemia. My son (at age 8) had acute lymphoblastic leukaemia.”
