This January 22, he failed to attend two of Chanel’s haute couture fashion shows in Paris, though his team blamed his absence on exhaustion. It was the first time in his career that he ever missed one of his own shows.

Apart from running Coco Chanel’s fashion house for over three decades, Lagerfeld was also the creative director of Italian fur and leather goods fashion house Fendi and of his own eponymous fashion label.
