Kate Garraway confirms husband Derek is back in hospital amid Covid recovery

Kate Garraway has confirmed that her husband Derek Draper is back in hospital amid Covid recovery.

The Good Morning Britain presenter, 55, gave an update of husband's health at this afternoon's Tric Awards.

She said: "He's okay. He's back in hospital actually, so that's a development. There we are."

Derek has been recovering from the effects of coronavirus since he caught it in 2020. Although he doesn't have the virus anymore, he has been suffering from the damage that has occurred in his organs.

Speaking recently to Good Housekeeping magazine, Kate said: "When you nearly lose someone, it certainly brings everything into sharp focus. In many ways, we’re still learning how we are as man and wife, as so much has changed.

"It’s the same for the children – they’re having to relearn the experience of being with their dad. And, of course, the biggest learning is for poor Derek."

Kate has filmed two ITV documentaries that showcase Derek's recovery journey – Finding Derek and Caring for Derek.

The presenter and her husband got married in 2005 and share daughter Darcey Mary Draper, 16, and son William Garraway Draper, 12.

Speaking about how she hopes Derek will be in better health when she officially gets awarded her MBE, Kate added: "I really try to seize those moments because when you do, you realise that life is just a collection of moments – and finding more good ones than bad ones is probably the secret to it all."
