Kate Middleton Is Serving Looks in Oscar de la Renta at the Royal Opera House

After going casual for a community garden visit yesterday, Kate Middleton dressed up for an engagement at the Royal Opera House this morning. The Duchess of Cambridge is set to tour the costume department to learn more about its work and use of textiles, Kensington Palace previously announced.

Kate will also speak to dancers from the Royal Ballet to learn about the design of their costumes. Her daughter, three-year-old Princess Charlotte, would’ve been a fan of today’s visit. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have revealed in previous appearances that their little girl is fond of dancing, just like her late grandmother, Princess Diana.

For the appearance, Kate ditched yesterday’s outdoorsy look for more formal attire. She wore a bright violet peplum suit jacket with a matching skirt by Oscar de la Renta. Sadly, Kate’s exact outfit is no longer available, but you can still shop similar Oscar de la Renta designs.

The Duchess of Cambridge also carried one of her favorite bags for the occasion, per Twitter user @MiddletonMaven—Aspinal of London’s Midi Mayfair bag in a black croc design:

Meanwhile, Kate’s shoes are a new design by Rupert Sanderson, per @MiddletonMaven, and her earrings are by Asprey, according to @KateMCambridge:

What Kate Wore notes that the striking color of the Duchess’ suit is actually dubbed “ultraviolet,” and that this isn’t the first time Kate has worn the look. The Duchess of Cambridge was also seem wearing her Oscar de la Renta suit back in February 2017, to attend the UK Guild of Health Writers conference alongside husband Prince William:

Yesterday, the duchess looked laid-back but still stylish in a tweed jacket, skinny jeans, and See by Chloé combat boots. She visited the King Henry’s Walk Community Garden in Islington, to meet volunteers and learn about their projects at the garden. She also met with local school children helped them make pizza in an outdoor oven. One student even asked her whether the Queen is a fan of pizza.

Although these mark some of Kate’s first public work engagements of the year, she already has a big project planned for 2019: She’ll help design the Royal Horticultural Society Garden at the 2019 Chelsea Flower Show, an annual garden show in London. The setting will be woodland-themed and incorporate the benefits of nature on mental health, the Palace said in a statement.

This year, the flower show will take place from May 21-25.
