Keith Flint’s romance with Gail Porter and wife Mayumi Kai who saved him
Keith Flint led a very interesting life – with some surprising romances.
The Prodigy singer, who died at his Essex home today after being found unconscious, famously dated TV presenter Gail Porter.
The unlikely couple were together from 1999 to 2000 and were cruelly dubbed ‘Beauty and the Beast’ because of the difference in their appearances.
After their break up, Gail went on to marry Toploader guitarist Dan Hipgrave and Keith married Japanese DJ Mayumi Kai, who he once said saved him from a life of "drugs and shagging around".
Keith married Mayumi in 2006, in front of an eclectic line-up of guests.
It was reported at the time that David Gest and Busted’s Matt Willis would be among the crowd watching the couple say ‘I do’.
David was invited by the couple after getting to know Keith through his bandmate, Prodigy co-founder Liam Howlett.
Speaking to The Times in 2009, Keith spoke about his good luck in Mayumi, who he described as "beautiful, f***ing cool".
Mayumi works under the name Super Megabitch.
Keith said: "We were touring and she just walked into this room we were in, and you know how it is, I just couldn’t talk, I was overwhelmed. I’d done my share of drugs and shagging around.
"Look, we all like to get busy, but in truth I was a bit worn through with it."
He added: "We’re not exactly planning to have children, but we’re not planning not to either."
Keith said he and Mayumi enjoyed travelling around Europe together.
He said: "We take one of the Range Rovers, and plan our route, and stay in hotels along the way, nothing lah-di-dah."
They also enjoyed exploring rural Essex.
Keith once said: "We like to take picnics and sandwiches, driving through the green lanes. My wife loves the house, the dogs, and the animals we have around us, the deer and the fox that comes and pokes his head through the hedge."
Gail, who lost her hair to alopecia 13 years ago, said on Loose Women last year that she was ready to find a new fella.
She said: "He has to love me bald, not just with hair, because that’s the real Gail. I’m a complete romantic – I have this really Disneyland view of finding a great man."
Keith has died at the age of 49.
An Essex Police spokesman told The Sun : "We were called to concerns for the welfare of a man at an address in Brook Hill, North End, just after 8.10am on Monday
"We attended and, sadly, a 49-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin have been informed.
"The death is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner."
East of England Ambulance service also say they were called to the address where a man was found unconcious.
An ambulance was sent but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Prodigy found huge fame after emerging from the underground rave scene in the early 1990s.
They went on to become one of the UK’s biggest bands.
