Kerry Katona’s daughter DJ ‘wants mum’s fiancé to adopt her’ as doesn’t remember dad

Kerry Katona previously revealed that her fiancé Ryan Maloney is planning to become the adoptive father to her youngest daughter, DJ.

Eight year old DJ's biological father George Kay passed away in 2019 at the age of 39, and Kerry, 42, said "it is completely" her daughter's decision to be adopted by Ryan.

As Kerry spoke of their plans on GB News, she also shared her thoughts on marrying Ryan – but she exclusively told us it will be a while until she's married again.

Writing in her column, Kerry said: "Me and Ryan won’t be getting married anytime soon, but when we do, it will be a shotgun wedding in Vegas.

"For now, we are going through the adoption papers for Ryan to adopt DJ as I found out she wanted to call him ‘Dad.'"

Kerry continued: "She doesn’t remember her biological father, George, so I think if it’s something she wants to do, then that’s completely up to her."

The mum-of-five previously said of their adoption plans: "DJ, my youngest, she's only ever known Ryan.

"Her dad died when she was only five, she's only ever known Ryan. So we're going to go down the adoption route as well with DJ."

She added: "But also, if anything was to happen to me, I want to make sure that security is there for my children to remain with Ryan and by being married, that all helps."

Kerry revealed she's "scared" of the thought of walking down the aisle because of her "track record" of previous marriages.

"But saying that, some days I really want to marry him and then some days I really really don't!" she told Eamonn Holmes and Isabel Webster.

Kerry was first married to Brian McFadden from 2002 until 2006. The former couple welcomed daughters Molly, 21, and Lilly-Sue, 20, together.

The singer then married Mark Croft in 2007, and welcomed Heidi, 16, and Max, 14, together – but they separated in 2011.

Kerry was married for a third time to George Kay after they tied the knot in 2014, but their marriage ended in 2017.
