BBC Breakfast presenter Louise Minchin, 52, has spoken out after being inundated with supportive messages from her 211,000 Twitter followers. Fans rushed to cheer Louise up after she sheepishly revealed a “rookie error” had caused her to fall off her bike yesterday.
The journalist took an unfortunate tumble after forgetting to take her foot out of the cleat on her bike ride.
The presenter shared the news alongside a picture of herself lying on the floor, as she laughed to the camera.
Louise had previously reassured fans that she was unhurt by the accident.
However, last night, the star took to Twitter once again to admit that the mishap had left her with a slight injury.
She penned alongside two bandage emojis: “Your stories of bike fails at zero mph have cheered me and my grazed knee up immensely.
“So glad I am not alone,” the grateful host admitted.
Fans took to the comments section of Louise’s update to share their thoughts.
One person wrote: “Not alone at all. 3 times in 2 days over a 350 mile bike ride. Once into a hedge. Oh and my personal fave. Trying out cleats for the first time, at traffic lights in Lincoln with the guy in the car next to me sniggering.”
Another added: “We’ve all done it kiddo whether we admit it or not, especially if we use clips!”
A third fan admitted: “The first time I did it was at the feet of two nuns. Did they help – no. Did they laugh – yes!”
A fourth penned: “I have never had a bike, the one time i had a go on one i discovered i could not turn left! Which makes mapping out right journeys very difficult. Kudos to you.”(sic)
Before discovering her grazed knee, Louise told fans yesterday afternoon: “Oh the indignity!

“I managed to fall off my bike at 0 miles an hour, forgot to take my foot out of the cleat.
“Rookie error that I haven’t done for years!”
Louise went on to joke that the only thing that was hurt was her pride.
She added: “Anyone else as silly?”
Elsewhere, Louise discussed potentially signing up to Strictly Come Dancing following her announcement that she will be leaving BBC Breakfast after 20 years later this year.
During the latest episode of Her Spirit podcast, Louise’s BBC co-star Carol Kirkwood discussed her time on Strictly and went on to urge the former to sign up.
The host has always said she’s been on a “lifetime ban” to do the show, until recently.
The mum-of-two revealed: “What I’m more worried about is that the other day on [BBC] Breakfast, Dan [Walker] mentioned it and I said the line I’ve said for many years Carol, that, ‘I’m on a lifetime ban from my family’.
“And my husband texts me and he goes, ‘Ban lifted’.”
