Love Island Australia winner Grant Crapp welcomes daughter with girlfriend as he announces sweet name

Love Island star Grant Crapp has announced the birth of his first child with his girlfriend, Lucy Cartwright.

The 25-year-old announced the special news on Instagram on Tuesday with a sweet picture of his girlfriend, Lucy, asleep beside their newborn baby girl, who they have named Charli.

Celebrating her birth, Grant wrote: “Charli Zoe Crapp born 19th April 1:29am.

“Lucy done an amazing job … far better than I ever could and it was definitely an experience!

“My respect for women has risen immensely. Women are truly amazing human that us men are fortunate to have.

“Thank you @treasureluce for bringing our daughter to the world. You are the best mum and I couldn’t be more grateful to have you in my life forever! Bring on more #love.”

Fans were quick to congratulate the new parents on their bundle of joy, including friends and family who are excited to meet her.

One friend wrote: "Congratulations guys! We can't wait to meet her."

A fan wrote: "Congrats. She looks beautiful. Rest up Lucy."

Another added: Aww so Beautiful, Congratulations to you both."

He went on to share an adorable video of the new babe in her rocking seat wrapped up in a floral blanket as she squirms and settles into her new life.

The electrician, from Canberra, Australia, admitted he was “so excited to be a dad” when he shared the news that the couple were expecting their first child back in December 2020.

He posted a seaside snap alongside his heavily pregnant girlfriend of two years wearing a zebra print one piece swimming suit, flaunting her blooming baby bump.

Following their pregnancy journey, the couple then went on to share the gender of their baby.

The couple were snapped standing under a pink balloon arch as Grant stood next to Lucy, who sported a pink maxi dress, and lovingly holding her belly.


Since he found fame on the show, Grant has since gone on to have a career change, moving on from his former profession as an electrician to begin his own clothing line, as well as following personal training and modelling.

Grant was crowned the winner of the 2018 series with his then girlfriend Tayla Damir, who famously ended their relationship just two weeks after the show ended.

Shortly after the news of their break-up was announced, it was reported that Grant hadn’t been entirely honest when signing up for Love Island because he was still in a relationship during the show.

It was reported by The Sun that Grant had a secret girlfriend for the whole duration of his time in Spain.
