Love Island twist as Maya Jama enters villa and tells stars to make ‘big decision’

A teaser for Wednesday night's episode of Love Island sees host Maya Jama make a surprise entrance to the Mallorcan villa – leaving the Islanders' jaws dropping.

When Maya enters the villa, the Islanders and viewers know something big is about to go down, and this time, she made her appearance as everyone enjoyed brunch in their couples in the garden.

As the Islanders take in her sudden arrival, she says: “Hi my lovelies!” This is a bit of a surprise isn’t it? Stay where you are, this won’t take long. I hope you’re enjoying your cute brunch and time together."

The popular presenter continues: "Well, as you know, finding your perfect match isn’t always easy. You guys are all living together, spending every moment together. You all have a front row seat into everyone's relationship. You see first hand how it all goes down.

“In your couples, you now have a very big decision to make. I want you to decide which two couples are the least compatible and tonight I’ll be back to find out who you all have chosen. This won’t be easy, so I'll leave you to it and I will see you later."

This year's instalment of the smash hit reality dating show has seen no shortage of twists and turns, with Maya's latest announcement just the latest in a long string of drama for the singletons on their quest for true love.

This follows the news the Islanders could be joined by another bombshell imminently. Star of last summer's series Jay Younger could see his ex Malissa Nicol join the roster of series 10 stars, after she's reportedly signed up as the latest new contestant for the current series.

On Sunday's show, the reality stars took part in an unexpected daylight recoupling, that saw many true feelings exposed. At the end of the re-coupling, six new couples had been formed, with several notable changes taking place among some previously solid matches.

Following the shake-up, the new couples were as follows: Zachariah Noble and Molly Marsh, Mehdi Edno and Whitney Adebayo,Sammy Root and Jess Harding, Mitchel Taylor and Leah Taylor, Tyrique Hyde and Ella Thomas, and Scott Van-der-Sluis and Catherine Agbaje.

Sammy found himself in the midst of controversy after being embroiled in a love triangle with OG Islander Jess and bombshell Leah. Ultimately, he chose to stick with Jess and left Leah in tears after referring to her as a "test".
