Miley Cyrus, Demi Lovato & More Join Tribute To Ruth Bader Ginsburg
Miley Cyrus, Demi Lovato and several other artists are set to join a virtual rally to pay tribute to Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg‘s legacy.
The “Honor Her Wish” event, scheduled to take place on October 12 at 8 p.m. ET, is intended to urge the Senate to honor Ginsburg’s dying wish that her seat be filled after the inauguration next January.
The event coincides with the first day of Republican hearings to confirm President Donald Trump‘s nominee for a Supreme Court replacement.
According to NPR, Ginsburg, who died in September from complications of metastatic cancer at the age of 87, told her granddaughter Clara Spera days before her death that she did not want her vacancy filled until a new president has taken office.
“My most fervent wish is that I will not be replaced until a new president is installed,” Ginsburg told Spera, according to NPR.
Jessica Biel, Kristen Bell, Beanie Feldstein, Elizabeth Banks, Yvette Nicole Brown and Mae Whitman are also part of the lineup.
Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Stacey Abrams, Elizabeth Warren and several other leaders will also be speaking at the virtual event.
R.E.M.‘s Michael Stipe, Hayley Williams, Phoebe Bridgers, Kesha, Margo Price, John Batiste, Kathleen Hanna and The Resistance Revival Chorus are also due to appear.
The event is open to the public but requires an advance RSVP.
