Pat Sajak does ‘parental bragging’ to congratulate son Patrick for graduating medical school
America’s game show host is also one of America’s proudest dads.
Pat Sajak used air time during Monday’s episode of “Wheel of Fortune” to give his 30-year-old son, Patrick Sajak, a congratulatory shout out. He asked his longtime co-host Vanna White if he could do “a little parental bragging” to honor his first born.
“You know my son Patrick, you’ve known him all his life,” Sajak told White. “He’s made it through medical school and he is now officially Dr. Sajak.”
The game show host said he is thrilled about his son’s accomplishment, whom he shares with his wife Lesly, but there is one aspect of the new degree that Sajak is less thrilled about.
“The only troubling part is that he insists that I call him Dr. Sajak,” he joked.
‘Wheel of Fortune’ fans ‘floored,’ left laughing at Pat Sajak’s stern exchange with contestant
Sajak, 74, ended his bragging saying, “I tried to get him into geriatrics but he refused, but that’s a personal thing. Anyway, congratulations son.”

Patrick is the oldest of Sajak’s two offspring: Sajak and his wife also have a 26-year-old daughter, Maggie.
Sajak endured a medical emergency in 2019 after going on a walk with his daughter. The host had surgery for a blocked intestine in November and felt like it was a near death experience.

“In the background, I could hear my wife and daughter talking. It sounded like they were a mile off, but they were right next to me,” he recalled to ABC News. “I remember thinking, not in a morbid way, ‘I think this must be death. This must be what death is like.’ And, all I thought was – hearing their voices, I thought, ‘Boy, their lives are gonna change now.’ “
While Sajak recovered, his co-host White took over his duties, and his daughter Maggie took over the letter turning duties of White.
