The wife of Sir Rod Stewart, Penny Lancaster, gave fans a rare insight into her family life while holed up at their Essex home while in lockdown. The model, who tied the knot with the rockstar in 2007, revealed things took a drastic turn after the Loose Women panellist took up a new task to keep herself busy.

The 49-year-old had attempted to bake a lemon meringue pie for her famous clan, but it didn’t exactly go to plan.

Penny, who shares her sons Aiden, nine, and Alastair 15, with Rod, put her baking skills to the test but was left disappointed.

Taking to her Instagram stories, the mum-of-two shared her efforts in view of her 109,000 followers.

Penny showcased the finished article, which admittedly didn’t have the intended finish.

In the first snap, the sweet treat was no longer placed in the pie dish and instead was on the stove in a crumbled heap.

Penny captioned the post: “Lemon meringue disaster.

“Because it took to so long to bake and I’ll never get to have it.”

In another snap, Penny shared a photo of her version, alongside a snap of what the lemon meringue should have resembled.

She captioned the picture: “What it should have looked like…”

Sharing a photo of her pie served on a plate with a scoop of ice cream, Penny added: “Looks aren’t everything,” followed by a laughing emoji.

But it wasn’t all bad news for the model, as Penny shared another dish she’d cooked which went down a storm with her family.

Rod’s other half tried her hand at whipping up a potatoes dauphinoise, the classic French dish.

Elsewhere, Penny gushed over her other half in a sweet tribute.

Taking to her stories, the Loose Women presenter captured the sunshine coming through their window at home.

She added her rockstar husband’s song lyrics in the background to his hit song Maggie May.

They read: “But that don’t worry me none, in my eyes you’re everything.”

Rod has previously dished on his marriage to wife Penny, saying she means “everything”.

Of their two decades of marital bliss, he said: “I’m stunned that Penny has kept me around for 20 years.

“They have not invented the words for how I feel about her. She is everything.”

He went on to say that she helped him understand the importance of a long and happy marriage, as Rod added to the Mirror: “It took me a while to learn, because I have been a scallywag in the past.”
