Rush’s Geddy Lee Shares Photo Of Bass He’d Hoped To Include In Book

Geddy Lee shared on social media a rare photo of him playing a white Hagstrom bass guitar, which he used for one of his performances in the 1960’s.

Posting an old photo of him playing the guitar on Instagram, the Rush bassist and vocalist said it dates back to 1967 or 1968.

“I was 14 or 15, playing in a garage band, at what is obviously one of my very first gigs ever,” Lee wrote. He recalled that some songs by Sam and Dave and The Grassroots were played during the show.

“If you look closely, you can barely see a sliver of a white Hagstrom bass in my hands,” Lee said, which he says is one of his very first instruments.

“When putting my bass book together I searched high and low, to no avail, for a photo of this bass … so I’m super pleased to share this moment of my long forgotten past,” the 66-year-old musician added, with hashtags #digtheshorthair #garagebandsrule #HagstromHIIB #TheGrassroots #SamandDave #LiveforToday #vintagebasses #didImentionthehaircut #sweetmemories.
