Sex Education Season Three FIRST LOOK: Gillian Anderson’s sex therapist character is spotted with a baby bump while filming alongside on-screen son Asa Butterfield

The second series of Netflix’s Sex Education ended with Gillian Anderson’s character Dr Jean F. Milburn finding out she was pregnant.

And the actress, 52, was spotted on set of the third series of the hit show with a fake baby bump this week as filming continued in Symonds Yat in Gloucestershire. 

The star looked radiant in a turquoise jumpsuit and colourful kimono as she shot her scenes alongside her on-screen son Asa Butterfield who plays Otis.

Things all looked familiar aside from the cast and crew taking safety precautions as they donned face masks between shots filmed at Otis and Jean’s house. 

Asa looked relaxed as he donned a striped coat to film his scenes for the series.  

The Netflix show left fans on a cliffhanger at the end of season two, but lovers of the series won’t have too long to wait to find out what happens next, after the cast confirmed filming had begun in September.

They’re back! The star looked radiant in a turquoise jumpsuit and colourful kimono as she shot her scenes alongside her on-screen son Asa Butterfield who plays Otis.

Meanwhile, Emma Mackey, who plays Maeve Wiley, gave a few hints about what we can expect from the upcoming series earlier this month.

Speaking to PORTER the 24-year-old admitted the set has become ‘very regimented’, with coronavirus testing being carried out twice a week to ensure the cast and crew’s safety. 

However she said sex scenes will still be included: ‘We’re all still, like, hugging and making out… and doing intimate scenes.’

In September Netflix shared a snap of a doodle-covered script on Instagram, while the show’s account posted a video of the cast getting prepared to leave lockdown and head back on set.

Sex therapist Jean could be seen struggling with her technology as she prepared to film her preparation to head back to work.

While other cast members including Asa Butterfield, Chris Jenks, Connor Swindells, Jojo Macari hilariously got ready to reprise their roles.

Chinenye Edeudu, Tanya Reynolds, Chaneil Kular and Alistair Petrie also featured in the clip.

Fans of the show were clearly excited over the show’s comeback, which has been tipped for a January 2021 release, and took to the comments to share their joy.  

‘DID YOU HEAR ME SCREAMING???’ commented one thrilled fan.

While another remarked: ‘YES YES FINALLY SOME GOOD NEWS.’

A third person wrote: ‘This is the best news I’ve heard.’

Actress Aimee Lou Wood, who plays Aimee Gibbs, recently spoke to Digital Spy about her hopes of the show making it to screens by early next year as she said: ‘It looks like it’s on track.’ 

And after having already read a script for the first episode of season three, she teased that it’s ‘really, really good’.

She went on: ‘I’m desperate to see more. I’m so desperate, especially because I feel like the last season left us all in such interesting positions. But where the characters could go now is kind of limitless.’
