Piers Morgan, 56, has hit out at the Government on Twitter after their latest U-turn, calling out Boris Johnson. The former Good Morning Britain presenter posted his views to his 7.9 million followers today.

Govt performs screeching humiliating U-turn.

The presenter originally posted a tweet with a picture of the Daily Mail front page, which read: “Shameless MPs sink back into sleaze.”

He captioned the image: “This is disgraceful.

“Corrupt politics at it’s very worst.”

The PM has ditched immediate plans to overhaul the standards system, after the Tory MP Owen Paterson escaped suspension for breaching lobbying rules.

Boris’ spokesman will face questions about the U-turn and Paterson’s future in a briefing with journalists this afternoon.

He posted an update on the tweet this morning, criticising the Prime Minister.

Piers wrote: “UPDATE: Govt performs screeching humiliating U-turn & abandons this shameful attempt to protect sleaze.

“But the intent was there – and once again shows how little Boris Johnson cares for democracy and rule of law.”

Followers were quick to the comments to express their view on the Government’s actions.

Lennymcb1 said: “They will just assume we will forget it in a few weeks and he will appear back as if nothing happened.

“All will be well till the next one gets caught.”

Goonerman10 added: “You voted him in.”

Piers is very vocal about many issues, most recently with his opinion on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

He mocked the couple after they pledged to lower their carbon emissions, amid their well publicised use of private transport.

Piers shared a news article reporting on Meghan and Prince Harry’s pledge for their charity brand Archewell to “reach net-zero carbon emissions by 2030”.

In response to the news, he typed: “Did they pledge this from aboard Sir Elton’s jet or the Clooney one?”

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who are currently living in a $14 million mansion in California, shared a mission statement on their Archewell foundation website.

The couple said they will work with an “independent consultant to track all Archewell-related activities” from inception to “understand our collective footprint”.
