Ricky Gervais, 59, has hosted the Golden Globes five times. Ahead of the The Oscars 2021 this evening, the comedian shared a clip of his speech from hosting the former show last year. At the start of the show, he famously singled out various nominees, production company choices and highlighted racism within the industry.

Sharing the seven-minute clip in view of his 14.5 million followers, he wrote: “It’s The Oscars tonight!

“I wasn’t invited. Was it something I said?” followed by crying with laughter emojis.

Many of his fans flocked to his post to comment.

One user wrote: “Love it!! Best performance by a host ever.”

“It doesn’t matter how many times I watch, it always makes my face hurt,” a second commented.

A third penned: “Any award show without you telling the truth and roasting celebrity’s is going to be boring.”

In the past, Ricky said he wouldn’t want to present The Oscars as it would be a “nightmare”.

Tonight, there will be no formal host for the third straight year.

Due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, the ceremony will be attended by just a few hundred nominees and presenters, including Brad Pitt and Harrison Ford.

The show will be held both outdoors and indoors at the Art Deco Union Station in Los Angeles.

Other nominees will join by satellite from international venues.
