Ceeze Transforms Scraps of Nike Sneakers into Limited-Edition "Victory Chair"

New York-based creative studio Ceeze has gained a reputation for engineering bespoke shoes and accessories, from custom Nike SB Dunk Lows, to a limited run of burgundy Air Jordan 5’s. But in doing these projects, they found that creating small but specific pieces can result in a lot of waste. Keen to find a creative solution to the abundance of off-cuts leftover, the team developed an idea to create something long-lasting – the “Victory Chair”.

With a frame crafted from Baltic Birch, the Victory Chair features cushions that have been painstakingly crafted from reclaimed Air Jordan uppers. Nike’s branding is repeated on its legs, which have been shaped into a swoosh. To create the cushions, each scrap sneaker was dissected, before being applied to Napa leather backing and upholstered to the inner cushion. Each chair takes upwards of 75 hours to craft by hand and features over pairs of shoes.

Of its new launch, the studio said:

“The impact that sneakers have had on the luxury goods market has never been more paramount. Whether the Louis Vuitton and Nike, Gucci and Adidas, or even Reebok’s recent “Eames” inspired collaboration; it’s clear that the culture, connectivity and creativity behind footwear have never been better.

Since 2015, Ceeze has been one of a handful of creators engineering bespoke shoes on a technical level with luxury quality and immersive details that few others have been able to achieve. Having to buy authentic Nike shoes for each of [our] custom shoes has resulted in full storage lockers of scrap materials. But where some might see a problem, the team at Ceeze found a creative solution.”

The Victory Chair will launch on May 31 on the Ceeze website. It will be available in a limited edition of 10 and is priced at $6,500 USD.

Ceeze burst onto the scene in 2018 following with its “Off-Louis” Air Jordan 1. Since, the studio has since delivered pieces like the YEEZY BOOST 350 x adidas ZX 4000 4D, Balenciaga Triple S “Wild Thing” and an Off-White x Air Jordan 1 crafted from recycled aircraft seats.
