Daniel W. Fletcher Wants to Bring Joy With His Courvoisier Collaboration

British designer Daniel W. Fletcher returned to London Fashion Week this February with his Fall 2022 collection, and mixed in between all of the ’70s references and schoolboy-ish undertones was a hidden collaboration, one with the luxury cognac label Courvoisier. Now, ahead of its release, Fletcher and Courvoisier have spilled all.

Speaking on the collaboration, Fletcher said: “I believe that joy is best expressed through whatever medium you feel the most passionate about — for me, this is design, and, more specifically for this partnership, the art of painting. This is something that brings me so much happiness, and having the creative freedom to communicate what ‘joy’ feels like to me through this collaboration has been really enjoyable. I used these positive feelings to inspire my design for the limitededition bottle and apparel collection, using my signature playful brushstroke, to bring joy to others, too.”

Indeed, the collaboration is presented in two complementing parts — a capsule collection and a limited-edition bottle of Courvoisier’s VSOP cognac. The bottles are limited to just 200 units and each has been hand-painted by Fletcher himself, combining brushstrokes that are a signature of the storied designer with the alcohol brand’s usual branding and numbers denoting the bottles’ rarity, also painted by Fletcher. The floral nature of the brushstrokes — enhanced by their colors — work with the VSOP’s richness, and in turn echo the beverage and the House of Courvoisier itself.

As for the capsule collection, these brushstrokes have been applied to clothing, again signatures of Fletcher’s work. For example, a denim jacket — a core part of every Daniel W. Fletcher collection — gets the painted treatment, as does a silk shirt, a pair of jeans, a sweater, and a T-shirt, with the latter two sporting more overt branding as opposed to the formers’ colorways.

Daniel W. Fletcher’s collaboration with Courvoisier will release this month, with the bottle, jeans, jacket, and shirt dropping at Harrods. The sweater and tee will drop on the official Daniel W. Fletcher website. Take a closer look at the campaign above.
