Louis De Guzman Officially Unveils His Second New Balance 574 Collaboration

Hot off the heels of collaborating with BAIT and Astro Boy on a fresh exhibition and assortment of limited products, Louis De Guzman has officially announced his second project with New Balance. The fine artist from Chicago has cooked up another adventurous New Balance 574 colorway and produced a new collaborative cut & sew apparel collection.

Abstract interpretations of nostalgic cartoon characters are what the Filipino-American creative is known for, he certainly delivers his playful design language on the kicks and the apparel. The 574s nod to his ongoing series In Between the Lines and comes formatted with a blend of suede overlays and leather paneling. Tongues, mid-foot, toe boxes and heels are done up in black while accents of baby blue, sky blue, red and pink sit adjacent. Lateral “N” logos are treated with Guzman’s all-over art in tonal fashion while the medial side opts for white embroidered outlines of the “N” logo in smaller fashion. In the apparel department, Guzman has cooked up nylon shorts and jogging pants, as well as socks, a tee, and a hoodie.

“I am beyond honored to be joining New Balance in reimagining their iconic 574. This mixed media footwear piece draws inspiration from my personal color palette from my ongoing body of work entitled In Between The Lines. A representation of raising self-awareness and confidence in oneself,” says artist and designer, Louis De Guzman. “Being able to apply the body of work and subject matter towards the color blocking and tooling of the 574 has been a humbling process.

You can expect this collection to drop on December 7 via Greenhouse and on December 8 via Foot Locker family stores. The shoes will retail for $85 USD while the clothing items will range from $15-70 USD.

In case you missed it, the New Balance 1700 has appeared in an earthy colorway.
