Resident Evil 4 remake VR mode has started development – will still be free
The VR mode for the Resident Evil 4 remake will be free DLC as the VR update for Resident Evil Village is released.
We’re just a month away from the launch of the Resident Evil 4 remake and while fans still have some burning questions about the game, one thing we know we won’t be getting day one is a VR mode for Sony’s PlayStation VR2 headset.
Capcom and Sony said as much during the remake’s announcement and it sounds like it’ll be quite the wait for it, since development on the VR mode has only just started.
However, Capcom has clarified one important detail, which is that the mode will be distributed as free DLC.
While welcome news, this isn’t too surprising considering both Resident Evil 7 and Resident Evil Village’s VR modes were free add-ons as well.
The news comes via the official Japanese Twitter account for the Resident Evil series. Unfortunately, it hasn’t shared any further details and only tells fan to ‘stay tuned’ for more information.
The VR update for Village only came out today though, so we don’t know yet, but we’ll try and have some kind of review for it before the end of the week.
The Resident Evil 4 remake launches for PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC on March 24.
