Watch T-Pain and Kehlani Command A Western Town In New "I Like Dat" Music Video
Following the release of “I Like Dat” last month, T-Pain and Kehlani have returned with a western-inspired music video for the R&B-leaning track.
Directed by Christian Beslauer and filmed at Veluzat Movie Ranch, the visual draws heavy inspiration from Paul McCartney and Michael Jackson’s 1983 “Say Say Say” music video.
Done up in snakeskin cowboy boots and a brown leather assemblage in the opening scene, T-Pain draws a crowd as he belts the track’s introductory bars atop a wooden elevated surface. Kehlani then makes her grand entrance, swiping a bottle of “T-Pain’s Drank” out of the rapper’s hands before making out with a woman standing behind her.
Shifting scenes, Kehlani takes over from a green-lit stage inside a ranch style bar, matching T-Pain’s western fashion in a snakesin top and white fringe pants. After mingling through an intimate crowd, Kehlani is joined by T-Pain for a closing duet, before the duo bid farewell on a horse-drawn carriage.
“I Like Dat” riffs off a reworked version of T-Pain’s 2017 hit “Buy U A Drank,” placing an emphasis on the female perspective with Kehlani’s melodic vocals and a slew of love-on-the-brain lyrics.
“Kehlani has been one of the best to work with, real talk, T-Pain told Rolling Stone of the collaboration. “She did her thing on this track and made it what it is. Also, it do be like that sometimes.”
