Cleaning fanatic swears washing up liquid is the secret to getting stubborn stains out of clothes

A SAVVY mum revealed how she got her daughter's socks looking brand new – using just washing up liquid.

The mum showcased her genius technique using a sock as an example.

Before the sock was grimy and grotty – you could barely tell it was pink.

But afterwards it looked fresh.

She said, on the Facebook group Mums Who Clean:"First picture is of my daughters sock that has been put through the washing machine on soak cycle with Napisan (a stain remover) and washing powder.

"Thanks to a Daycare Mum, she advised to ditch Napisan and stain remover products and use DISHWASHING LIQUID."

I actually enjoyed doing laundry tonight and seeing the stains from my daughters clothes fade away.

She continued: "Second picture is what it looks like after using dishwashing liquid and a scrubber for one minute.

"I am honestly shocked!! I never knew something so simple and cheap would work better than a tub of Napisan.

"I actually enjoyed doing laundry tonight and seeing the stains from my daughters clothes fade away."

Other mums praised her reveal, saying: "Bring back the good old days, I remember mum having one of those scrubbing boards in our laundry tub, now I know why.

"You half fill the washing tub with hot soapy water, give everything a little go over then throw it all in the washing machine to finish off."
