Cleaning fans are using fabric softener in their diffusers when the oil runs out and it makes your home smell amazing | The Sun
AS much as we love scattering candles and reed diffusers around our homes, there's no denying that it can be an expensive habit to maintain.
Well rather than forking out £10 (or more!) on a new reed diffuser every other month, one cleaning fan has a handy hack on hand.
At the end of last year, TikTok user Nic shared her life hack in a viral video which has racked up thousands of likes.
She captioned the clip: "Don't bin your reed diffusers!"
Instead of trudging to the shop to fork out more money on a fresh diffuser, Nic has delved into her laundry cupboard for inspiration.
Now, she's using fabric softener as a purse-friendly alternative and she says it smells incredible.

In the clip, the cleaning fan is seen pouring a few capfuls of Lenor's Sparkling Bloom and Yellow Poppy scent into the empty reed diffuser.
She then tops it up with a splash of water.
After this, she places the used diffuser sticks back into the jar and the upcycling transformation is complete.
Nic claims the DIY mixture makes her room smell heavenly.

Unsurprisingly, other users are now desperate to give it a go themselves – and they've branded Nic a genius,
"Love it," one replied. "Going to try it!"
A second viewer added: "This is genius!!!"
Other TikTok users jumped in with their own DIY suggestions that have made their homes smell divine.
A creative user wrote: "I put Zoflora and water in mine!"
But there's always a few trolls around who try and ruin the party.
Some suggested that Nic's idea would fail as the sticks might go mouldy sat in all that fabric softener.
But Nic had the perfect comeback. She said: "I've had in my bathroom for a week and still no mould."
