I worked in a movie theatre & you're probably getting scammed on your popcorn – the size you SHOULD buy

GOING to the movie theatre can feel therapeutic.

You buy yourself a nice bag of popcorn and a soda, and you cozy up in front of the big screen.

One former movie theatre employee named June Long, who goes by @thatcoolguy.25597 on TikTok, said you may be getting scammed on how much popcorn you get for what you pay.

We all know that movie theatres jack up the prices on almost everything, so the last thing we want to do is pay more for concessions when we don’t have to.

In the clip, he began: “Secrets about the movies you didn’t know, part one: Popcorn.”

June then acted out a scenario where a customer ordered a popcorn.

Playing the role of the server, June showed the customer the three size options: large, regular, and junior.

Acting as the customer, he said: “Can I get the medium? No, actually, that’s too much. Can I just get the small please?”

The server handed him the small bag and told him he owed $7.35.

But the customer wasn’t pleased with the amount: “Actually, this is too small. Can I get the regular size instead please?”

In response, the server agreed and dumped the small bag of popcorn into a medium container.

That’s when the big secret was revealed: the medium container, although a different shape, only had a capacity to fit the exact same amount of popcorn as the small.

“Your total is $8.44,” the server said, while handing him the same amount of popcorn only in a different container this time.

Rather than pay over a dollar more for the same thing, save your money and order the small, June suggested.

The clip received over one million views, with commenters disappointed in the seeming scam:

“Everything in America is an illusion. Just go with the small,” one person wrote.
