GETTING your little one to drift off is a bit of an uphill battle sometimes.

It seems not matter what you do they just don't want to sleep, but chances are, they do.

Although that can be frustrating, there are ways to get them off to sleep without much of a fuss.

 Babysense shared five easy ways to get them to drift off and give stressed parents a chance to catch their breath.

The first trick involves stroking you baby's face softly with a tissue.

It might seem odd, but the pros swear by it, just continuously do it and watch them fall into a peaceful slumber.

Another great option is to use white noise, since it mimics the sounds they would hear in the womb.

It's pretty effective at creating a comfortable environment for them, and not too distracting for any awake adults.

Some baby monitors specifically play white noise, but failing this there are loads of videos on YouTube that are completely free.

In the same way, the sound of running water has a great calming effect on babies and will help them quickly drift off.

Just play a video of a running stream to create the ultra relaxed vibe your baby needs.

The experts also say that babies crave their parents touch, so stroking their arm or cheek can aid in the quest for sleep.

You can also use calming lotions to help them fall asleep.

After their bath, spend five minutes gently massaging them with lotion to help them relax.

Lotions with calming lavender scents work especially well since it helps calm the nervous system.

It's not always what you do, but what you don't do though.
