I’m a teacher and there’s a Christmas gift we’re all sick of getting – here’s what to do instead too | The Sun
DECEMBER is fast approaching and if you are starting to think about getting a gift for your child’s teacher for Christmas, you’ve come to the right place.
If your little one is in school and you are going to treat their teacher this festive season, it’s important that you take notes – as a teacher has revealed the Christmas presents that they are sick of receiving.
Not only this, but this teacher also shared the gifts that they would much rather receive instead – so if you want to get in the teachers’ good books this Christmas, make sure to listen up.
A special education needs (SEN) teacher named Mel, who posts under the TikTok username @mellew06, recently took to the video sharing platform to expose the gifts that teachers hate receiving.
The teacher posted the clip to the social media app with the caption ‘Sorry, we’re sick of “world’s best teacher” mugs’.
Mel shared her clip remixing a trending audio on the app, which typically sees interior designers reveal their thoughts on decorating trends and design choices.

But Mel remixed the trend, giving examples of gifts that she would love, hate or be impartial about receiving from her students’ parents.
She said: “How I feel about certain *teacher gifts* with little to no explanation”.
The first gift, one that Mel loves to receive, are gift cards.
For Mel, she would be particularly happy to receive a gift card for Amazon and also, for Target (an American department store).

However, a gift that Mel would “absolutely not” want to receive is a mug – in particular one that said ‘World’s best teacher’.
A gift that Mel sees as “50/50” are t-shirts – particularly those with quotes such as ‘teach, love, inspire’ printed on them.

But another absolute no no gift, one that Mel sees as an “100% no”, might be a bit of surprise to some – but are beauty gift sets.
So if you were debating whether to pop into Boots and get a nice gift set with bubble bath and body lotion for your child’s teacher, you may want to think twice.
The final gift that Mel mentioned, one that she said “yes and I don’t care that it’s impractical” was a sellotape dispenser and a stapler – but the ones she would be happy to receive are personalised and sparkly.
