To mark their first wedding anniversary, Prince Harry, 37, gifted Meghan Markle, 40,  an eternity ring. The royal worked with renowned jeweller Lorraine Schwartz to design the bespoke ring and paid tribute to himself, his wife, and his first-born child by integrating their birthstones. Now, a jewellery expert and crystal healing expert have discussed the meanings behind the stones on the eternity ring.

The ring, which is a conflict-free diamond eternity band, has three birthstones on the underside.

Meghan was born in August, the birthstone for that month is Peridot.

According to experts, the green-coloured stone can help with “asthma, sinuses, and alleviating illness in the eye, stomach, thyroid and liver”.

Prince Harry was born in September and the birthstone for that month is Sapphire.

The deep blue stone is believed to “help lift mood, cure insomnia, and detoxify the blood”.

Meghan and Harry’s first child, Archie, 2, was born in the month of May.

Emerald, a dark green birthstone, is assigned with May.

And this is meant to “strengthen you to deal with anxiety, stress, depression and insomnia”.

Meghan gave birth to Lilibet in June this year, and her birthstone would be pearl.

It has been rumoured Meghan could be considering adding a pearl to the eternity ring to honour her daughter.

The experts say a pearl is said to help promote better sleep.

Crystal healing expert Angela explained how birthstones and crystals work. “Science has proven that everything vibrates at certain frequencies.

“I personally believe that wearing crystals helps us change our vibration slightly so that we experience the healing properties.

“On a more practical level having an external focus, such as a beautiful birthstone, helps us concentrate on positivity.

“I have personally found I’ve had the most benefits from amethyst.

“ I often use it for headaches. I pick one up and lay it on my forehead and I often find it improves.

“Amethyst, along with peridot, are also believed to keep you motivated on your weight loss journey,” she told Hello! Magazine.

While working closely with Lorraine, a famous New York-based jeweller, the Prince also too the opportunity to have Meghan’s engagement ring – which features two stones that once belonged to his mother, Princess Diana – resized and reset with a new delicate diamond band.

It is said her incredible five-carat engagement ring is thought to be worth £134,500.
