Move Into the Fast Lane, Ferrari and PUMA's Speedcat Is Back
The PUMA Speedcat is an archival sneaker dating back to 1998 that looks to motorsports for its inspiration, and now the sneaker is back in full swing with a partnership with Ferrari.
In the ’90s, PUMA supplied Formula 1 pilots with a fireproof version of the Speedcat. These were worn by the likes of Ferrari Scuderia’s drivers and, because of its sleek low profile design, the shoe soon turned into a fashion statement. By the early 2000s, PUMA had a whole range of lifestyle sneakers indebted to sports, which has lead to a partnership with Ferrari that has recently delivered the SF Cell Alien and Cell Venom.
Now, the duo are back together for two Speedcats. Served in “Rosso Corsa/PUMA White” and “PUMA Black/PUMA White,” the Speedcat is made from smooth suede and is intersected by a stitched leather PUMA stripe on the mid-panel, cutting through to give the shoe a streamlined racing aesthetic.
Gold PUMA branding hits the mid-panel, while the cat logo graces the toe and Ferrari’s shield appears on the lateral rear-quarter. More cat embroidery appears on the tongue and heel, while a low profile black outsole with tread inspired by car tires rounds out both pairs.
Take a look at the Ferrari x PUMA Speedcat above, and pick up both pairs now from retailers such as Sivasdescalzo for €110 EUR each (approx. $133 USD).
