Spoilers: Ben leaves final note for Maggie before leaving in Home and Away
Ben (Rohan Nichol) has received some positive news about the drug dealing case lately, but tells John (Shane Withington) that despite the police having made an arrest in Indonesia, his charges haven’t been dropped.
Ziggy (Sophie Dillman) and Maggie (Kestie Morassi) work out a plan to boost Ben’s mood. They ask Dean (Patrick O’Connor) if there are any surf lessons Ben could take, but he reveals there are none until the following week.
When John suggests they offer free lessons to drum up business, it isn’t long before Ziggy gathers interest. She asks Ben to take the lesson, saying Dean is busy and can’t do it.
The lessons goes well, and Ben’s mood seems to improve, but later on – after Dean hands over payment to Ben – John sticks his oar in it by letting slip that the lesson was free.
Feeling like a charity case, Ben immediately returns the money to Dean and storms out. Dean and Ziggy argue over whose fault it was, but Maggie steps in and says it was Bens’, going out to find him.
She tells him that his behaviour is unacceptable and he needs to speak to a counsellor as she is done. Ben is left alone on the beach to think about what his wife has said.
Ben apologises to Ziggy and Dean, telling them to get on with their lives and pretend he doesn’t exist. He goes to Salt for a drink, and John is worried at how low Ben’s mood is.
After speaking to Coco (Anna Cocquerel) on the phone and tearing up, Ben decides to write a letter to Maggie. He then goes to Alf’s (Ray Meagher) place and leaves his caravan key. Then he drives out of town and sits in his car, filled with despair. What is he planning?
