Asda is selling salted caramel hot chocolate – and we can't wait to try it

All you have to do is mix the powder with a bit of hot milk, and collapse in the sofa after a long day.

The launch isn't Asda's first salted caramel hot chocolate, but it'll replace the products the supermarket currently has.

The new Fairtrade flavour costs £2.48 per tub and can be found online and in stores now, as spotted by Instagram account NewfoodsUK.

Asda is rolling back Options' salted caramel hot chocolate, and has discounted the hot chocolate to £2, down from £3.99.

It is cheaper than Asda's own-brand hot chocolate, but it weighs less at 220g, meaning you'll still get more chocolate powder for your money with the new product at 300g.

If you really are an Options fan, Sainsbury's and Ocado also sell the salted caramel flavour but they're more expensive at £4 per item.

But at Ocado, you can also pick up two and get one free until November 27, making it as good a deal as at Asda.

By buying supermarkets' own brands you can actually pick up great discounts, as the prices have fallen lately thanks to competition from discount supermarkets such as Aldi and Lidl.

But if you're looking for something more luxurious to sip on, Whittard sells salted caramel flavoured hot chocolate for £6.50 and Hotel Chocolate for an eye-watering £9.

In fact, salted caramel has exploded in popularity in the last few years.

Just in the past week, we've written about Aldi bringing back its popular salted caramel mince pies as part of its new winter range.

And Tesco has started selling salted caramel doughnuts topped with gold sugar.

If you like salted caramel with a boozy twist, Tesco is also selling profiteroles filled with just that and Baileys.
