Best Roasting Tins 2019 | The Sun UK
FEW things beat a good roast dinner – they’ve been bringing families together for centuries.
But you won’t have the kids licking their lips with dry or overdone food, and a reliable roasting tin will help make the most of your meal.
When you think of roast dinners what springs to mind? Sitting around the table with family and friends, tucking into a roast beef with all the trimmings? Or, maybe you’re more of a veggie and nut roast fan?
Whatever your preference, one thing’s for certain and that is you can’t cook a decent roast without the right kit – and we’re talking roasting tins here.
So, what makes for the perfect design? Something that’s hard wearing, robust, roomy, easy to clean and can be popped on the hob when needed, for starters. Or, a roasting tin that looks just as good on your dining table as it does on the oven when you come to serve up?
With that in mind, we’ve selected our top buys to help you host your roast in style.
Best Roasting Tin for Design
This premium quality tin is a great all-rounder with a well-thought out design.
Made from 1mm carbon steel that’s thicker than most ovenware, it features a non-stick textured base for even roasting, and a clever corner ‘nose’ for pouring juices without them going everywhere.
Large handles with a silicone grip make holding the tin easier and it can withstand temperatures up to 240ºC.
The only drawback is that it can’t go on the hob, but it is dishwasher safe and easy to stack, so we’ll let it off.

Best copper roasting tin
Too beautiful to hide away in a cupboard, this roasting tin is begging to be hung from a hook among your copper pans.
Large enough for a family roast at 35cm, this tin has layers of copper, aluminium and stainless steel fused together to make it extra hardy.
It’s not non-stick, and you’ll need to hand wash it, but it comes into its own if you want to go from oven to table and impress guests.
- Croft Collection Copper Roaster, £85 from John Lewis – buy here
Best affordable roasting tin
We’d say you can’t go wrong at this price, but we know that’s not true – but you shouldn't do with this model.
At 36cm, this roaster can hold a large amount and it’s made from long-lasting steel with a durable speckled black vitreous enamel coating.
An additional lid helps keep meat and vegetables moist and tasty, while the tin itself can withstand heat up to 220ºC and is dishwasher safe.
A great affordable choice.

Best Roasting Tin: Colour Pop
We had to include one roaster that might stretch the purse strings a little and here it is. But boy is it worth it.
Every little detail has been thought of with this heavy-duty dish, from the wide, shallow design that allows perfect crisping and browning, to the deep sides that help contain any splattering juices.
The non-reactive interior enamel won’t chip or retain flavours or stains, while large handles make for easy lifting.
Of course, we haven’t mentioned it’s stylish appearance, which we can’t fault, and you’ll be spoilt for choice choosing between its colours, from bright Cerise to vibrant Marseille Blue among others.
- Le Creuset Signature Cast-Iron Rectangular Roaster, £117.83 from Amazon – buy here
Best Roasting Tin: Healthy Buy
Some will appreciate the removable rack that comes with this roaster, allowing any fat to drain away after cooking.
That’s not all, either: this 40cm tin is a roomy choice, so it’s great for families, and features a non-stick coating, as well as heavy-duty hinged handles.
Plus, it’s suitable for use on all heat sources, including induction hobs, and is dishwasher safe, too. Not bad for its cheap price point.
- Masterclass Grey Non-Stick Roasting Pan with Rack, £17.50 from Debenhams – buy here
Best Stainless Steel Roasting Tin
If it’s gleaming good looks don’t tempt you, then its deep tray and roomy size may.
Perfect for three or four person meals, this tray is made from high-quality uncoated stainless steel, and is dishwasher, freezer and oven safe.
Plus, its accompanying rack means that you can allow any fat to drip from your joint should you choose.
It comes in a small and large size, but we think this medium tray is just about right.
- KitchenCraft Medium Stainless Steel Roasting Tin, £17.79 from Amazon – buy here
