It’s 2021, and in a bizarre twist of fate Crocs are having a serious moment – something we’d never have believed 5 years ago. Yep, in a divide that’s caused more debate in the OK! Fashion team than ever before, whether you like it or not the Croc trend isn’t going anywhere soon.

Some of us (AKA me – sorry team) can’t get enough of the *seriously* comfortable shoe that’s taken the fashion world by storm. The mix of street casual combined with foot contentment was enough to convince me to purchase a pair earlier this year – and what a great decision it was.

But I wasn't the first on the scene. Balenciaga first made waves to put the Croc on the fashion map back in 2017, when they collaborated with the brand for their Spring/Summer 2017 show.

Designer Demna Gavasalia sent canary yellow platform embellished crocs down the Balenciaga runway – and the whole fashion industry gasped.

Just a few months before, Scottish designer Christopher Kane featured marbled Crocs for his 2016 show, he pimped his up with sparkling rocks and crystals.

It seems the Balenciaga and Croc love affair has simply gone from strength to strength in the last four years, with their most outrageous collaboration of all time causing an even bigger buzz than the yellow platform fiasco of 2017 would you believe.

For Balenciaga’s Spring 2022 collection, which first debuted on Sunday, Gavasalia sent models down the runway in stiletto crocs – and we couldn’t really believe our eyes.

It seems fashion fans couldn't believe what they were seeing either, with Twitter users going mad after seeing the runway collection debut on Sunday.

People took to Twitter to talk of their confusion – with one user saying "Please don't. This is Painful."

Well, Balenciaga and Crocs have certainly managed to get people talking, but what do you think? As a Crocs fan myself, I think I'll be sticking to the originals, not sure even I have the confidence to rock a Croc stiletto. But hey, ask me in 5 years time, never say never.
