Driver’s unusual way of getting Christmas tree home branded ‘shocking’ by police
A driver’s unusual way of getting a Christmas tree home has been branded ‘shocking’ by police.
PC Jane Bickley has urged people to think twice when transporting a festive fir after one of the force’s speed camera vans captured this image.
And she had a stern warning for other drivers yet to pick up their Christmas tree, reports Plymouth Live.
The giant tree, which is roughly double the size of the vehicle, was attached to the roof of the van as it travelled down the A38 at the weekend.
“Shocking image spotted on the A38 by one of our speed camera vans over the weekend," tweeted PC Bickley.
"We all know it’s a hectic time of year in the run up to Christmas… but please consider the suitability of your vehicle if transporting such a large load.”
One person replied: "Seriously no one can be that stupid?"
The exact location of the incident is not clear.
Meanwhile, there were reports of delays on the A30 near Okehampton on Saturday after a tree fell onto the carriageway.
Sgt Dave T took to Twitter to inform motorists that a wrapped Christmas tree was in the road.
He urged people to be careful if driving in that direction.
He said: "Tree alert. A30 near Okehampton. Report of a wrapped up Xmas tree in the carriageway! Use caution whilst we attempt to recover it".
The Christmas tree was promptly removed.
