Evidence That Humans Are The Cause Of Global Warming Has Reached A "Gold Standard"

New evidence indicates that human-caused global warming has now hit a “gold standard” level of certainty and despite how it sounds, that is not a good thing.

There are a few things happening beyond a shadow of a doubt in the 21st century that are shockingly still not believed by everyone on the planet. The most worrying of those things is global warming, and that many people still aren’t convinced that humankind is responsible for the damage being done, or at least for accelerating the process.

The continued use of fossil fuels and other human-made things that emit greenhouse gases are doing what will soon become irreparable damage to our planet. Scientists are continuing to supply evidence that we are the ones doing the damage in an increased attempt to cut down the world’s use of things like oil and coal. In fact, new research unveiled earlier this week revealed that evidence pointing towards us being the culprits has reached a “gold standard,” reports Reuters.

The new evidence also indicated that humans being responsible for the increasing temperature of the Earth’s surface is now at a “five-sigma” level. To put that in terms we can all understand, that effectively means there is a one in a million chance that the actions of humans are not to blame for the uncharacteristic temperature changes going on around the world.

To put exactly what scientists applying a “gold standard” to something into an easier to understand format, it was also applied to the discovery of the Higgs boson subatomic particle back in 2012. What experts are basically trying to tell us is that global warming is happening, and we are the ones responsible. In fact, there is a 95% chance that we have been the main cause of climate change for the past 60 years, at least.

The sad and most annoying thing about all of this is that those who refuse to believe we are the ones responsible will continue to keep their heads buried in the sand, regardless of the evidence. The good news is those who do acknowledge climate change and the damage it is doing outnumber those who don’t. Action is being taken around the world to try and counteract it, we just need everyone to get on board.
