First picture of bouncer stabbed to death outside Park Lane New Year’s Day party
A bouncer who was stabbed to death outside a party in the early hours of New Year’s Day had only arrived in the UK weeks earlier in search of a better life.
Tudor Simionov, 33, from Romania, was working outside a private event in Park Lane, close to Hyde Park, when he was killed.
He was attacked by a group of men attempting to gatecrash the party, police have said.
Mr Simionov moved to London in October with his girlfriend, and was hoping to start a family, a close friend revealed.
The pal, who knew him from childhood, told Mirror Online: "He came there with his girlfriend and they were planning to marry and have a baby."
And she continued: "Everyone you talk to about him will tell you that he was a great guy, very happy even if he had a rough life, with his smile on his face.
"(He was) a big guy, you would think that you would be afraid of him, but he was very soft and gentle. He was a guy who you would count on, he would have helped you with anything.
"He thought of moving to Britain after his mother died, he was alone here, and he wanted a new start in life, and that’s how he and his girlfriend decided to move.
"I don’t know if they wanted to stay, but for sure they wanted to try. He just wanted a family in a new place."
Friend Dorin Ionut posted on Facebook: "Rest in peace my little brother."
Just 10 weeks ago, Mr Simionov’s girlfriend, Madalina Anghel, posted a picture of the couple arriving in London, captioned "#goodbyeromania".
She told the Evening Standard: “Right now I can’t think about him in the past. He was my future husband and we came to London from Romania for a better life.
And she added: "We were happily and excitedly talking about having children together.”
The Metropolitan Police said two other men – aged 37 and 29 – and a 29-year-old woman were also found with stab injuries.
It happened at around 5.30pm.
Detective Chief Inspector Andy Partridge said: "The incident took place outside a venue that was hosting a private party.
"I would like to hear from anyone who was present at that event and witnessed this incident.
"A number of witnesses have already been spoken to, but it is clear many others who were present are yet to be traced, some of whom may have captured the attack on their mobile phones.
"It appears the deceased and the two injured males were working as security staff for the party, they were attacked by a group of males who were outside trying to enter the venue.
"The female was also attacked as she assisted the security staff in closing the front door of the premises.
"This shocking incident happened just hours into a New Year, the area was particularly busy with people out celebrating and making their way home from various parties and organised events."
