Greggs set to hike prices of its most popular items from breakfast rolls to sweet treats by more than five per cent

Many items including its famous breakfast rolls are going up by 10p when the rise comes in on December 27.

Bacon, sausage and omelette rolls will go from £1.75 to £1.85 – nearly six per cent more.

Breakfast baguettes will also rise from £2.50 to £2.60.

Pink iced finger doughnuts, gingerbread men, spikey mikeys, jammy heart biscuits and triple chocolate cookies will be more expensive too – typically by 5p.

In a memo to staff, Greggs outline the new prices and give advice to workers on what to tell customers.

It advises they say: “We’ve had to slightly increase the price of a few of our products and deals due to increased ingredient costs.

"We still do believe we are providing fantastic value to our customers.”

Meanwhile, Greggs yesterday opened two new branches in London Bridge and Cannon Street train stations in London as it continues to expand.

The chain has more than 1,950 shops – and serves 6million a week.
