Helpless dad watches thugs smash into home on CCTV while daughter, 8, sleeps

A frantic dad watched in horror from his phone as a gang of burglars smashed their way into his home while his daughter slept upstairs.

They were caught on camera by a covert doorbell camera which immediately sent a notification to dad-of-two Manmeet Singh.

He then watched through the app as one of the raiders using a crowbar to force open his front door.

Manmeet, 42, called his elderly mum – who was at home with his eight-year-old daughter – and dialled 999 before dashing home.

His mother and the girl ran into the garden and were forced to hide in their shed as the gang of three men ransacked their home.

The men fled with jewellery as police and Manmeet arrived.

Suspicious Manmeet said it’s the families fifth burglary in four years and he had spent thousands of pounds on seven CCTV cameras.

Accountant Manmeet got notifications on his mobile at 8.20pm last Friday from the doorbell camera that someone was outside his home in Bexleyheath, south London.

Reliving the ordeal, he said: "The offenders could not break the lock. So they broke the door.

"My mother grabbed my daughter and went into the garden and ran to the shed.

"I think they thought someone was in there because they were looking around the rooms before ransacking the house.

"I got back and was worried they got my mother and daughter."

A Scotland Yard spokesman said: "Police were called at 8.22pm on Friday, March 1 to a residential address in Bexleyheath following reports of a burglary in process.

"The owner of the property alerted police after noticing a group of males entering the premises via a smart camera.

"They stole a quantity of jewellery before fleeing in a BMW.

"Officers attended as the car made off. A pursuit was initiated but the vehicle was lost.

"There have been no arrests. Enquiries continue."
