A kind-hearted man has been praised for helping an injured homeless man get into rehab after meeting him at a restaurant.

Darrian Leu-Pierre, founder of charity L&D Gives, approached Jeremy and offered him help when he saw him at the Tokyo Joe's restaurant in Colorado, US on April 14.

He learned that the rough sleeper was trying to fight off his long-term drug addiction and was one-week sober.

"He was taking drugs for years, since he was 15 years old, he was fighting demons and fighting addiction alone," Darrian told Daily Star in an exclusive interview.

"A week after I met, one of the nights we had dinner together and we offered him a job but he turned down and said 'I really want to go to rehab, I want to start a new life, I want to have a relationship'."

That is when Darrian and his family stepped in and helped him out by registering him to a Christian rehabilitation centre.

In the video posted on TikTok @LDgives, Jeremy is given a haircut, health check and new clothes for free before starting the one-year-long rehab programme.

At the beginning, the 30-year-old looks scruffy and dirty – his hair is covering his eyes and his beard is overgrown.

Darrian takes him to a barber shop where he gets a full makeover – the hairdresser trims his hair, shaves his beard and cuts his ingrown nails.

With the help of a donation, Jeremy gets to stay in a hotel for a week before admitting into 180 Ministries, a religious centre which offers alcohol and drug rehab programme for men.

Darrian was hailed a good Samaritan for helping Jeremy to lead to his new life.

One viewer said: "Aw God bless your hearts! He looks so much younger now!"

Another penned: "You're a saint! Keep it going, I'm sure his family will be so grateful."

"You’re an amazing inspiration!" A third added. "I’m so proud of you."

Darrian is confident that Jeremy will be able to achieve the goal and become a "new man" after.

He told this site: "You have those feelings that Jeremy is a good man, he has a hard life, he lived with his grandma because his parents lost custody of him as a kid.

"And when he got into drugs, his grandma abandoned him. He has since been homeless for 10 to 15 years.

"The first time we met him, he had lots of cuts, bruises, bad skin, ingrown nails and a little infection from cuts but otherwise, he is completely healthy."

Darrian added that he stills keeps in touch with Jeremy after he was admitted in the rehab centre.

"He is going great," he said. "We know that he has a child and we are trying to get in touch with the baby's mother and set up visitation for them while he is in rehab."
