How families can bag free kids’ ski passes this winter – with a bit of luck
Ski holidays could be that little bit cheaper for families heading to Switzerland for a snowy getaway this winter.
A new initiative has launched where kids can get a six-day ski pass completely FREE – across any of the country’s brilliant ski resorts.
There are 12,770 free passes up for grabs to be used at any time during the winter season for 2018/2019, which kicks off from the 22nd December 2018.
It’s worth noting that the deal is on offer to kids aged up to 12 years old only.
Because of the limited number of passes on offer, families will have to enter a ballot for a chance to snap up one up, on official website MySwitzerland.com. One adult can enter on behalf of one child.
You have a bit of leeway if you’re trying to decide on your winter holiday plans, as the ballot doesn’t close until the 2nd December, with winners due to be notified by the 7th December.
Of course if you are planning a holiday to Switzerland, it could be worth holding off buying your ski passes and trying your luck at the competition – ski lift pass prices don’t tend to fluctuate and if you don’t get the free ones for the kids, it’s likely that you will still be able to find deals online.
Switzerland makes for a brilliant ski break too – after all, it’s home to some of the best ski resorts in the world.
There’s no need to be disheartened if you do go in for the ballot and aren’t successful, but still want to try and book a wintry break.
In fact, there are plenty of ways to find cheap ski holidays for 2019, not to mention there are some great resorts where you get the best value for your money.
The venture was launched by the Swiss tourism board after they conducted research in collaboration with the University of St Gallen (HSG) which revealed family holidays played a key role in whether children were likely to ski in the future.
The Kids4Free initiative aims to help families who do want to get involved in skiing getaways but don’t want to break the bank in the process.
